In recent years most universities in South Africa introduced online applications. Now new applicants do not need to go to the post office to send their applications; they can do it from the comfort of their homes. This new age state of technology certainly has notable advantages. Unlike before, applicants now track the process of their applications. Prospective students can also change their course of choice mid-application. There is also less paperwork involved, and required documents can be easily identified. The struggling of guessing which documents the university ‘might’ need is eliminated.

Therefore, it is not surprising that it offers a wide range of courses, from Biology to Anthropology, Theology, Psychology and Biochemistry. From Bachelor of Commerce to Bachelor of Arts, applicants are spoiled for choice. It is also not surprising to learn that most applicants struggle with choosing their desired field of study. These are the steps one need to follow to check their application progress.
Step 1: Visit the official Wits website at www.wits.ac.za, and you will land on the ‘Home’ page. On your upper left, there will be a tab for ‘Menu’; click on it.
Step 2: Click on ‘self-service’ then follow the prompts, or you can click ‘Study @ Wits’. Then choose application.
Step 3: You will be asked to fill in your Wits and password; use the one you were given upon sending your application. It is usually emailed to you a few minutes after starting your application process.
Step 4: After filling in the required information, you will be taken to a portal that tracks your application status and what is needed from your side (if there’s anything you need to do, like paying application fee).
